Happy New Year! Its that time of year again... When I am out and about either walking the dogs, Cycling or on my regular run i see them everywhere... the people with the new bikes, the new running shoes etc., All out starting a new fitness regime. Don't get me wrong, I think it is great that so many people want to look after their health and are out there doing something about it, trouble is that so many people start out with a wonderful sense of enthusiasm, then after a few weeks other priorities get in the way and for various reasons they forget about their resolution, they steadily fall back into their old patterns of behaviour and before they know it.... another year has passed and they are thinking again about that new start... Let this year be different... Will power is the language of the conscious mind, but the imagination is the language of the unconscious mind ... and the imagination is so much more powerful than the will power! So my tip for all of you that can relate to the above, make this year the one where you begin to use your imagination to see yourself how you want to be, imagine it as if you are there now.... see what you see, hear what you hear and feel how good it feels! Practice doing this on a regular basis and notice the difference .. begin to notice the changes in your body by making the change in your mind, in your thinking... you are learning a new way of thinking and this can take time. If you see a personal trainer for a gym programme they help you and you know that it takes time to notice the changes in your body. Now think of your Mind and your Brain, you are training your brain to think differently... Changing your thinking can take time too... there will be days when they old thinking takes over, be ok with this, accept that this is a process, the more you begin thinking n a new way, in a positive way..looking forward to what you want .. after a while it will be a new automatic way of thinking... One important note.... Goals are important, they give us an aim on our journey through life, and that is their main purpose...giving us an aim, yes its nice to achieve our goals.. we all like to achieve our goals whether it is to run a marathon (my big goal for this year!) or to get a new job, earn $200,000 or have a baby..whatever your own personal goals may be.... when there are times that you don't achieve your goals... and this will and does happen how will you feel? Your goals do not define you, you are 100% worthy as an individual whether you achieve your goal or not! When you or I don't achieve our goals, this is the time to look back and reflect... to learn... how to do it differently in the future.. learn from the event... look at the bigger picture...by not getting the goal what did you get? what did you learn about you? look for the positives :-) Now.. i am just imagining... coming past the finish line.. yeah... i am tired..my legs ache.. every bone and muscle in my body is crying out with exhaustion... but i look around and see mountains of people and they all seem to be cheering me on..i can hear the cheers... I can see their faces.... and the feeling in my body is one of elation! I DID IT... and boy it feels so good. " i just ran my first marathon!' now you go and practice your own visualisation... practice it and change it where necessary... then rinse an repeat! Our minds learn by repetition, either real or imagined! Nameste Ange x |
